Discover the charming and breathtaking community of Conche and a story of resilience

With a population of 150 residents, Conche is known for its natural beauty and rich history, and is celebrated for the residents’ love of traditional Irish Newfoundland culture.

Home to the French Shore Interpretation Centre and the French Shore Tapestry, a post office, convenience store, community hall, small parish-owned gathering venue, a church, municipal building with a community gym, and one of the busiest fish plants on the island, the town remains resilient despite the unfortunate fates of many surrounding outport communities.

The Conche peninsula is home to dozens upon dozens of secret beaches and coves, each carrying their own stories and tales. The spruce-clad mountain ranges stretch into the distance, reaching upwards of 150m down the western coastline. Along the coast, discover hidden waterfalls, freshwater ponds, and historic trails.

June brings majestic icebergs into the harbour, as whales dance in the bays all summer long. July welcomes warmer temperatures, while late August is prime season for berry-picking in the sunshine.
